As member of parliament for Beaches-East York for over 10 years, Nate has a wealth of experience and ideas to offer City Hall. Helping address affordability, housing, transportation, and city services are some of Nate's top priorities, among many other issues facing Torontonians today.
Build more homes through gentle density in neighbourhoods, mid-rise housing on avenues, and greater density around major transit hubs, while ensuring growth comes with access to transit, green space and community infrastructure.
Ensuring we retain a defining characteristic of our neighbourhood, that people who grow up here want to live here. And people who raise their families here want to retire here.
Build non-market housing with ambition and at scale, making the most of land owned by the City and other like-minded non-profits. The City should lead efforts to aggregate non-market opportunities and build with scale.
The Chow administration has taken important steps to protect tenants and crack down on slum landlords through RentSafeTO, and we should bolster this work.
Treat homelessness as the crisis it is. Expand rapid housing, rent supplements, and both temporary and permanent housing solutions to help people off the street. We will work to deliver dignity for people in need while keeping public spaces welcoming for everyone.
Faster streetcars: Speed up streetcars through FastTrackTO's plan, including signal and switch upgrades.
Better subway service: Make reliable everyday subway service a priority by addressing slow zones, delays, and recurring maintenance problems.
Affordable transit: Reduce the fare cap and save regular transit users more.
Safe transit: Treat safety as part of reliable TTC service.
Efficient transit procurement: Implement best practices to build transit faster and more cost-effectively.
Better coordinate, communicate, and expedite major road infrastructure construction. And we will work together with residents and businesses to mitigate any impacts from construction.
We can’t rebuild the Gardiner ramp as it was. But we can expedite the rebuild of the Gardiner as planned, and we will push to build the Cherry Street connection earlier in order to alleviate east end congestion.
Prioritize a complete and integrated cycling network, expand BikeShare, and improve street safety.
Oppose the expansion of Billy Bishop Airport. Our community has spoken and that should be the end of it.
Reimagine Woodbine Beach: as the food services lease expires, engage the community to reimagine this area, including ideas such as a marketplace for independent local artisans and entrepreneurs.
Improve safety and accessibility by supporting new vessel procurement for Toronto Search and Rescue and exploring extended water quality assessments as warmer weather lasts longer.
Accelerate renewable energy and expand rooftop solar on homes and schools. Toronto Hydro and the City can learn important lessons from Australia and other jurisdictions that have massive solar deployments.
Advance clean transportation through TTC procurement and service quality improvements, active transportation, and EV charging city-wide.
Protect our ravines, natural eco-systems, and green space.
Work directly with residents and local businesses to improve communication, coordinate planned construction, reduce neighbourhood disruption and get projects built faster.
Work with City staff and neighbourhoods to review every major intersection in the ward to identify practical improvements to make our every day routes safer.
Fast work to fix potholes and parking issues, to add speed bumps and lighting, and work with residents to improve street safety.
Ensure the City gets more value and better service in how it delivers garbage collection in public spaces and snow removal on our streets.
Deliver a human rights approach to rapid housing solutions so that no one needs to sleep in public spaces.
Work with the Toronto Police Service to improve service in East York and plan future of 54 Division.
The Chow administration has committed to tie any property tax increases to inflation.
Create the conditions for affordable housing construction, expand non-market housing, protect tenants, and take action to end homelessness.
Mayor Chow has committed to expand affordability on public transit, including reducing fare caps to save regular transit users more.
Excellent and affordable public services are central to a great quality of life. Mayor Chow has expanded library access and school food programs and we will work to make healthy school food universal.
From snow removal to public transit, we will work relentlessly to improve the city services you rely on every single day.
A hyper-responsive and active Councillor and local team to help residents navigate City Hall and work with City staff to resolve local problems and improve services.
